GPS Testing for Automotive/Telematics Navigation Applications

The automotive environment represents an extreme challenge for satellite navigation systems. High user demands conflict with complex signal environments and the need for low cost systems. GPS positioning is typically supplemented by additional inertial or dead reckoning sensors to improve performance.

Spirent Solves Your IVNS Test Challenges.

Spirent offers test systems for Integrated Vehicle Navigation System (IVNS) testing that include simulated GPS signals coherent with inertial and Dead Reckoning (DR) sensors. Our systems can be controlled remotely, facilitating integration with other vehicle test rigs. Real-time hardware-in-the-loop simulation is also possible, for example to allow synchronization with driving simulators. Systems are also available that are optimized for vendor selection, integration and verification testing.

Why Test with Spirent?
  • Leading GPS simulation systems with scenario replay or fully flexible control software
  • Simultaneous GPS signal and DR/inertial sensor emulation
  • Turntable to directly stimulate embedded inertial sensors
  • CAN messages consistent with modeled sensors available to your CAN specification
  • Real-time remote input and streamed output data for hardware-in-the-loop test configurations
  • Vendor selection, integration and verification test support
  • Controlled signal generation for manufacturing test and end-of-line performance check
