GPS/GNSS Press Releases

7/16/2007 - Spirent Federal Receives GPS Wing Security Approval

Spirent Federal Systems Inc., a leading provider of GPS satellite simulators, announced today the company has received Global Positioning Systems Wing (GPS Wing) security approval for its Simulator Data Sets (SDS) Upgrade Package for the GSS7700 GPS Simulator.  Spirent Federal is the first company to obtain security approval for a simulator that meets all the requirements for Modernized User Equipment (MUE), including the new SDS M-Code capabilities.

SDS were devised by the GPS Wing as a means of testing modernized GPS receivers in the laboratory using simulators, without the need to employ the actual Modernized NAVSTAR Security Algorithm (MNSA) in the simulators themselves.  Spirent's SDS Upgrade meets all of the SDS capability requirements defined by the GPS Wing for SDS simulators.  Spirent has supplied Advanced Encryption Standard (AES) M-code test capability since 2004 via its SimMCODE option for GSS7700 GPS simulators.

Ellen Hall, Spirent Federal President and CEO said, "We are pleased that our SDS Upgrade to our previously approved GSS7700 simulator was approved by the GPS Wing.  We are very appreciative of the professionalism and expertise demonstrated by the personnel at the GPS Wing during the review process."

Spirent Federal offers industry-leading GPS/GNSS test and simulation systems.  Simulation is essential for controlled lab-based testing from research and development to manufacturing and mission planning.  Whatever application, whatever the conditions and however extreme the environment, Spirent Federal provides comprehensive test solutions to support GPS/GNSS projects.
