Spirent TestCenter Routing Technologies

Networking has evolved from a traditionally distinct Layer-2 switching and Layer-3 routing technologies to highly-integrated, converged, network solutions that combine both technologies. The devices that support these new technologies must be capable of providing support for large-scale, multi-protocol network solutions, while providing secure, high performance data forwarding with redundancy and high network availability. These network devices must also forward IPv4 and IPv6 triple play traffic with the associated quality of service (QoS) characteristics required to maintain service level agreements.

Spirent TestCenter helps network testers easily configure and execute complex test by providing and integrated solution that combines powerful routing emulation software with traffic generations and analysis tools. Using Spirent TestCenter's routing emulated software testers can create network test scenarios ranging from functional protocol testing to simple router or network emulation for device testing, and onto complex, multiprotocol network designs validation. Configuration wizards guide testers through each step the test configuration process, while still allowing advanced users the capability to manipulate protocol attributes at a very detailed level.

All of this protocol functionality is integrated with Spirent TestCenter's advanced traffic generation and analysis features to provide end-to-end network testing solutions. Simulate network failures in real time and watch corresponding control and data-plane events in results view and graphs. Graphically automate a series of network events using the Command Sequencer and loop the test to play for long durations during burn-in tests. View real-time protocols results correlated directly with detailed traffic statistics in the Results Browser. Analyze any field in a frame or packet in real-time using the Traffic Analyzer or capture and decode real-time traffic using ClearSight Analyzer. View and save end-of-test results using the Results Reporter.

Spirent TestCenter also provides multiple ways to configure test configurations:
  • Using wizards or configuration grids to configure tests in real time
  • Export any test configuration to a Tcl script in one-click using Spirent TestCenter's GUI-to-script
  • Automate any Spirent TestCenter configuration in Tcl
